Day 1 – Interislander – Picton
Racing committee decided on 4 qualifying races for the Optis and Starlings as the forecast for Sunday was looking ominous. Fleet was split into Gold and Silver on Saturday with again, 4 races planned.
Sailors were in good spirit after great training sessions prior to the event. Weather had been very good and hot for the previous few days.
16 Opti Open sailors and 1 Starling (George Clarke) from MBSC on the start line. Great to see so many MBSC families supporting this event and travelling the distance.
By the end of the day, MBSC managed to have 12 of the 16 sailors in the Gold fleet and 4 in Silver – what an achievement by the sailors and their fantastic coaches!
Day 2 – Interislander – Picton
Again 4 races for today – wind was very fickle and quite unpredictable, coming from all directions at various strengths. Very challenging conditions for our sailors but they took it in their stride and brought home some fantastic results.
Day 3 – Interislander – Picton
The bad weather front came in as predicted and Sunday was a wash-out with very strong winds and heavy rain.
The MBSC family stuck together and packed up all the gear and tents in the rain with a smile on their faces and everybody mucked in.
5 top 10 rankings for MBSC!!
