It has been a little while since the last MBSC Alumni fund raising event but we like to think it’s quality rather than quantity that counts in these things …. we’ve been thinking hard on how to beat your expectations, put on an enjoyable event and make the Club some $’s. The great news is we reckon we have come up with something pretty special. Something that’s not been done before, something that will be pretty exclusive, something you will want to be part of. Drum roll ……
It’s likely that you’ll be familiar with SailGP, its rapid growth, increasingly global profile and also that their technology and manufacturing facility is based in Warkworth.
A couple of MBSC Life members, Garry Hassall and Peter Dawson, are part of the SailGP team and they have offered to host a visit to the Warkworth facility where “we” will be shown what lies behind Reception on a guided tour. The timing of the event is significant as a brand new F50 will be on show prior to it being disassembled, packed and shipped overseas later in the month. Pinta, a brand new TP52 will be there also.
Numbers (really) are limited to ensure this is a high quality experience. So a pretty special, unique opportunity, with the added attraction of refreshments that we hope you are as excited about as we are !
Like other Alumni organised events it is all about raising $’s to support junior sailing at MBSC. We expect interest to be high, and not just from MBSC. Tickets will be offered first to MBSC members, then 7 days later we will open it up to other clubs on a first in, best dressed basis.
- The evening on Saturday the 13th August will kick off at 5.30 pm. Allow at least 1 hour to get to Warkworth. Don’t be late !
- The tour will take 60-90 minutes, followed by a snack and cash bar in the factory lunchroom.
- For those who are keen, a further “de-brief” will be conducted over the bar on our return to Murrays Bay Sailing Club, probably around 8.30pm.
- Ticket cost is $ 50 per person (includes a couple of slices of pizza. Drinks can be purchased at SailGP & MBSC).
Tickets must be ordered and paid before prior to the event and it would be wise to bring the ticket confirmation email with you on the night.

Please ensure that when you transfer funds that your reference information includes your name and “SailGP visit” (and please don’t combine the payment with any other CLUB payments).
