Unfortunately Covid restrictions means that we have had to postpone the MBSC Alumni event planned for the evening of Oct 3 for a future date.
This is because of the limit on total headcount of no more than 100 people. We were faced with turning people away and not being able to maximise the return for what is unashamedly, a fund raiser for the club.
We will reschedule as soon as possible.
For those that have paid already we have the following options;
- We will hold your payment in credit for the next event
- We convert the payment to a donation to MBSC
- Or we work out how to get the $’s back to you.
I intend to contact everyone who has prepaid over the next week. If you don’t hear from me please contact me either on firstname.lastname@example.org or 021 735770.
All – The MBSC Alumni invite you to what will be a very special evening at the Club on Saturday October 3 at 6.30pm.
The event is being held in the middle of the Winter Champs (Win Champs) to mark 30 years of this iconic event. We are delighted that one of the key driving forces behind the Win Champs, recent “repeat” Commodore (and Club president) Rod Slater will join us for what will be a very engaging evening.
The highlight of the night will be to hear from a group of people who have turned their passion and love of sailing into a career – showing that whilst all are accomplished sailors in their own right, there are many doors a love of sailing can open if you seek them out. The plan is to run the evening on similar lines to the Post Bermuda AC evening with speakers kicking off around 7.30 with a meal available between speakers.
Over the course of the evening we will feature three groups of very high quality speakers;
- Nic Egnot-Johnson and Leonard Takahashi will talk about their experiences in Match Racing, Sail GP etc.
- Jim Maloney and Nathan Handley will offer their perspective and insights into Coaching – all the way to the Olympic level
- And Cameron Dunn and Don Cowie will talk about how they have developed international careers, sailing on multiple circuits and different classes around the world.
All 6 have plenty of wider sailing experience that’s bound to surface and they will of course take questions.
Tickets for this event are $25 per person with every cent (once the dinner has been paid for) going to support the Club’s operations. For your $25 you’ll be fed, whilst (some of the Shore’s most keenly priced) drinks will be available for purchase. Payment can be made on the night – we hope to have EFTPOS but cash is always good!
Or simply deposit $25 per head in the MBSC bank account along with WHO IT IS FOR.
Bank: 12 3042 0272614 04
IT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL FOR THE CATERING IF YOU COULD REPSOND IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND.
Everybody is welcome – tho if you are not yet a member, why not join the Alumni ?
Any questions let me know – Julian Beavis 021 735770 or email@example.com Thanks and regards, MBSC Alumni.
